Spring wine

Tues. 6 Jun. 2017

After a spell of decidedly summer weather here in Bristol, the clouds have returned and now the rain and wind are reminiscent of early autumn rather than spring. But this is besides the point: good wine is a pleasure at any time, and I have two new bottles courtesy of my faithfuls.

I should elaborate: I did have two bottles, as one has already done its duty and met its destiny. That was the Smart Dog, a Portuguese blend of syrah and the port grape trincadeira, which was very good after having plenty of time to breathe. I am, of course, looking forward to sampling the other bottle, an unusual Australian blend of shiraz, grenache and mataro from the Margaret River region, in due course.

Now, I’ve been writing about wine – my wine, that is – for some time, since wine is a personal passion of mine. See, for example, one of my News items from mid 2014, I also have a ‘cellar’, not just a ‘dungeon’... And for wine lovers, more recent items concentrated on a Bordeaux and a malbec, with the latter including a “tasting report”: Fresh treats: a Bordeaux and Panamanian dark chocolate; and, A new visitor brings me a good red from Argentina.

So, accompanying this News item are pictures of these latest examples of gifts of wine to come my way. I particularly like the Smart Dog label!
